SeeVolution

What is SeeVolution?

SeeVolution isn’t your classical web-analytics service. Instead of showing you analytics in numbers, you see how visitors actually interact with your website, via heatmaps, that show you where people are looking, what they are clicking on, and even how far down the page they’ve gone.

Heatmaps show you levels of user interaction through hot and cold colors. The more people interact with your content, click your button, or hover with their mouse cursor over your text, the hotter the color, with red being the hottest. The less people interact with your content, the cooler the color, with dark blue being the coolest (or none at all, of course, for content that people don’t even look at).

An additional advantage to SeeVolution is that you don’t need to navigate away from your website to see the visitor data – using a transparent overlay that you can experience for yourself on their home page, SeeVolution provides you with the data right then and there.

At the moment, SeeVolution gives you three primary segments.

Click Heatmaps:

Click heatmaps show you where people actively clicked with their mouse. This is an excellent way to see if your ‘Download’ button is working, if people look at your FAQ tab more than your Pricing tab, or if your ‘Log in’ link is all but invisible to your site visitors.

Don’t forget to pay attention to highly clicked areas, even if they aren’t clickable. That big image that you put to show people what your product can do? People could be clicking it to enlarge the image, see the next one in what they think is a slideshow, or even because they think that this is the right way to access your site. People are clicking non-clickable objects? Then make them clickable.

Mouse Move Heatmaps

Some people move their mouse over what they are looking at. So if people’s mouse cursor is over a specific bit of content on your site, there’s a good chances are that they are reading, looking or browsing that content.

This is an excellent tool for deciding what sort of content people are looking for when they reach your site. Are they looking at images a lot? Are they reading the text about the different project management techniques you wrote, but ignoring the case studies? Are they looking at your screenshots more than the description that accompanies them? Are they looking at your marketing messages and big numbers?

You can use the mouse move heatmaps to trace visitors’ movements through your site’s pages, and understand what to place where.

Scroll Heatmaps

Scroll heatmaps show you how far down your page your visitors have scrolled. True, you want to have your call-for-action button, marketing message, best features, short video tutorial and a few screenshots above the fold – but it isn’t always possible. This helps you understand where the best place for your content is, and how far down people go to get information.

How does it work?

To sign up for the 14-day free trial, you need to enter your credit card. Once you do that, you get the lines of Javascript that you need to add to the pages you want to track (or your site footer, if you want to track your entire site).

So how much does it cost?

SeeVolution offers a variety of plans, that differ in the number of domains, number of visits and how far back your history extends, from $29 a month to $149. You can check out more details here.
